Book Info
Title: My Alien Cellmate
Author: Anna Svoboda
Publication Date: August 1, 2024
Category: Alien Romance; Sci-fi romance; Space romance
Relationship: This book features a M/F relationship between tiger-like alien Tareq (my tiger) and human Astra (my Myále).
Ages: I don't recall ages being given but I can say the characters weren't written on the immature side or anything like that.
POV: Told from the POV of both the male and female main characters.
Series or Stand-Alone: This book is a stand-alone book that is part of an interconnected series.
Length: Medium (222 pages)
Ending: This book ends with a happy for now.
There's no cliffhanger and we're likely to see more of these characters as the series will continue with one of the side characters we meet in the book.
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Open or Closed Door: Open door
Spice Level: 2.5 out of 5 peppers - This book features spicy scenes that are more on the vanilla side but include lots of dirty talk and a unique male appendage.
While there are multiple spicy scenes, the book features more plot than spice.

Book Boyfriend Material:
Tareq was such a refreshing alien male who is a bit of a cinnamon roll with strong male energy.
He's the perfect book boyfriend for those who love an alien MMC who will do anything to protect his female but is also respectful and considerate instead of overbearing and domineering.
“It means my beloved. My mate. My life. My everything,” he says between kisses. “And you can say it too, if you want. You can call me anything, Astra, anything at all. I’ll just be grateful to hear your voice.”
FMC: Astra has been dealt a crap hand in life complete with worthless family.
Even though her Monday has gone from bad to worse, she's a fighter that won't just roll over and give in to her seemingly poor fate.
She's stubborn and has fears and anxiety but will do whatever she can to save others and herself.
Readability: This book is an easy read and I did not note any grammatical issues.
Themes/Tropes: Alien/Space/Sci-Fi; Fantasy; Forced proximity; Hurt/comfort; Language barrier

Synopsis From Author
Mondays suck, and then you get kidnapped by aliens.
Astra
In the grand mess of life, where my two jobs barely keep my moldy apartment afloat, the universe decides to throw in an extra curveball — I'm abducted by aliens to be sold as an exotic slave. Now, I'm stuck in a cell with an alien roommate whose job description includes impregnating me. It's like adding rotten cherries atop of a cosmic joke of a cake that is my life.
But here's the kicker — my extraterrestrial companion turns out to be surprisingly civilized. A gentlealien, if you will? Terminology aside, he's beautiful, in every sense of the word. Despite the absurdity of the situation, there's an undeniable attraction between us. Yet, the looming threat of slavery dampens any sparks.
Tareq
Mission: Infiltrate the slaver crew. Reality: Locked in with the cargo. Now, they want me to impregnate a female from some primitive planet. Surprise of the millennium — she's not the helpless victim I anticipated.
She's resilient, intelligent, and beautiful, even with those blunt teeth and useless claws. I could see her as my mate, but that's a cosmic joke. Once I free us, she's off to her cozy planet, leaving me to nurse my two broken hearts. The Ancestors sure have a twisted sense of humor.

My Review
I was first introduced to Anna Svoboda when I came across her book The Werepigeon Apocalypse on pay per chapter app AnyStories.
It sounded so bizarre that I couldn't skip reading it and I immediately fell in love with Anna's writing style and sense of humor.
Even though it was a crazy storyline idea, it was just so well written and I couldn't wait to read more.
Unfortunately, I eventually stopped reading from pay per chapter apps and lost track of Anna's books in the process.
I was so excited when I recently happened to see a post from her about ARCs for her new book.
Long story short, I still love Anna's writing style, sense of humor, and ability to tell a story so well, even if it might be a bit off the wall.
In My Alien Cellmate we follow Astra's adventure through suffering a horrible Monday then ends up being kidnapped by aliens who probe her in a very non-pleasurable way and imprison her with other slaves.
She's, of course, scared of everyone at first. Hello, masturbating Lizardman- ick!
But she eventually sees they're not all bad, including a tiger-like alien spy, insect aliens, and even another human.
Likes
- Fast-paced and well-written makes for an easy read - perfect for an evening/weekend read
- Unique main and side characters
- Good mix of humor, suspense, and spice throughout
P.S. Make sure you check out the dedication of this book for a good chuckle!
Dislikes
- Not a big deal but would have liked to read a bit more about the side characters at the end
This book was so entertaining throughout with plenty of humor, suspense, and spice.
I never got bored nor felt the urge to start just skimming paragraphs. In fact, it grabbed me so much I finished the book in one evening.
Without spoiling anything, I really loved all of the unique side characters.
While I haven't read a ton of alien romance compared to other genres, it does sometimes get repetitive with similar types of aliens, but that wasn't the case for My Alien Cellmate.
It was nice to see everyone band together instead of being out for themselves, especially when they can't always understand each other's languages and one bad thing after another seems to happen.
If I had to pick one thing I didn't like about the book it would be the ending.
I was happy with what we were given but I would have liked a bit more.
I'm sure we'll see Tareq and Astra in the future as the series continues, but I would have liked to see a goodbye with characters like the panda, Cricket, and even Lizardman since they obviously bonded through their experience.
I know if I were Astra I would have totally kept the panda as a pet. 😂
Overall, I really enjoyed my time reading this book and recommend My Alien Cellmate to anyone who loves an Alien romance with a kinder MMC, especially if you want a book you can read in a sitting or two.
I can't wait to read the next book in the Supernova Casanovas series!
